Intensive English Program


Application and Admission Requirements


To apply to the Intensive English Program please follow the following instructions:
  1. Please complete the International Student Application for Intensive English Program (complete online from http://www.usi.edu/admission/international-students or download and mail to USI) with $40 application fee. When you apply online you can pay the fee at the end. Please indicate that you will be attending the Intensive English program first and you are interested in a particular major after you pass the IEP.
  2. Copy of a passport for you and dependents if you bring any
  3. Original official transcripts of all secondary schools & English translation (with graduation date) should be sent from the educational institution directly to the University for the purpose of determining eligibility for admission. Note: USI will inform students if a course evaluation report from one of the evaluation agencies is needed to complete the process
  4. International Student Statement of Finances form with a certified bank statement (US currency) or letter from an employer. In addition, to receive J1 or F1 visa you must complete International Student Statement of Finance that you can find here: Statement of Finances
  5. Students who plan to enroll in a degree program upon completion of the Intensive English Program, must have original official transcripts of all previous university coursework sent directly from the educational institution to USI for the purpose of determining transfer credit. All institutions must be recognized by the Ministry of Education (or other accrediting body) of the respective country
  6. Students currently in the U.S. on a J1 or F1 visa and who will be transferring directly to USI from another US school or university, must also submit an International Student Transfer Form which you can find here: Transfer Form
Once all requirements are received and reviewed an admission decision will be made. Students are notified of the admission decision by letter which will be mailed via DHL to the address supplied on the application for admission. Please mail all original documents (application form, copy of passport, statement of finances and official transcript original and translation if not in English) to the following address:

Other documents needed:
  • Earned a high school diploma from accredited institution
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Proof of financial statement to prove ability to (personal or sponsor)pay for living expenses and tuition while in the United States
