International Internships

  • Global Engagement Internships: China, Ghana, India, Costa Rica
    Seven fully-funded international internships are available summer 2014 under the auspices of USI’s Global Engagement Internship (GEI) Program. One internship will take place at the New Lanark World Heritage Site in Scotland (see separate application for New Lanark Internship). Five internships are available through a number of approved programs in Ghana, India, China or Costa Rica.This competitive internship program is part of USI’s global engagement initiative, designed to provide opportunities for USI students to gain a better understanding of global issues/challenges that impact our world. These areas include:

    1. Public Health
    2. Education
    3. Poverty Reduction
    4. Environment, Sustainability, &Climate Change
    5. Peace & Human Rights

    The Global Engagement Internship Program covers roundtrip airfare, housing and meals for the length of the program, USI internship credit, and program fee, if applicable. Funding will also be provided for a USI faculty mentor for their own research purposes. GEI participants will be expected to present their experiences at the Global Engagement Forum (tentatively scheduled for November 2014 at USI), and other venues.

    The GEI Program is open to fulltime degree-seeking students in all majors. Additional requirements will depend on specific internship opportunities. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors, and to applicants who have not received USI study abroad scholarships in the past.

  • Global Engagement Internship New Lanark
    This competitive internship program is part of USI’s Global Engagement Initiative, designed to provide opportunities for USI students to gain a better understanding of global issues/challenges that impact our world.

    The GEI Program Scholarship covers roundtrip airfare, housing and meals for the length of the program, USI internship credit, and a stipend of $150/week. GEI participants will be expected to present their experiences at the Global Engagement Forum (tentatively scheduled for November 2014 at USI), and other venues.

    The New Lanark Internship Program is open to fulltime degree-seeking students at the Junior or Senior level, with demonstrated leadership and communication skills. While majors in a range of disciplines would be suitable, students interested in Heritage Management or Museum/Gallery/Visitor attraction interpretation/outreach/education/collections are strongly encouraged to apply. Endorsement of a faculty mentor within the field of internship is required.
