USI Scholarships  

  • USI Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarship
    » $1,500 for one semester
    » $1,000 for summer amd short-term programs (which award USI credit)

    Eligibility

    » Open to all USI students who have been accepted in a USI study abroad program and will receive USI credit during the program.
    » Recipients must enroll in USI during the fall or spring semester following their study abroad program and complete the study abroad ambassador projects outlined in their application within 6 months.
  • Global Engagement Scholars
    » Up to $3,000 for the duration of program

    Eligibility

    » Open to all USI students who have been accepted in a USI study abroad program and will receive USI credit during the program.
    » Ability to engage in a Global Engagement project during the term abroad; projects will be judged on feasibility and relevance, as well as other factors.
    » Recipients must enroll in USI during the fall or spring semester following their study abroad program and complete the requirements for the Global Engagement project within 6 months.
  • Exchange Program Scholarships
    » $500 for duration of program

    Eligibility

    » Open to all USI students who will receive USI credit for studies at one of USI’s partner institutions (e.g., University of Osnabrueck).
  • Honors Study Abroad Scholarships
    » Academic year program participants - $2,000
    » Semester program participants - $1,200
    » Short-term program participant:
    »» Summer programs -$600
    »» Faculty-led study trips - $300

    Eligibility

    » The Honors Study Abroad Scholarship Program is open to students in good standing with the USI Honors Program who will have achieved sophomore status by the time they study abroad.
    » Study Abroad Scholarship applicants must participate in a USI approved study abroad program (Getting Started). Recipients will not receive their scholarships until after they have been officially accepted to the study abroad program.
    » Honors students may receive study abroad scholarships for up to two terms, for a maximum total award of $2,000.
  • Global Engagement Internships
    This competitive internship program is part of USI’s global engagement initiative, designed to provide opportunities for USI students to gain a better understanding of global issues/challenges that impact our world. These areas include: 1) Public Health; 2) Education; 3) Poverty Reduction; 4) Environment, Sustainability, &Climate Change; 5) Peace & Human Rights.

    The Global Engagement Internship Program covers roundtrip airfare, housing and meals for the length of the program, USI internship credit, and program fee, if applicable. Funding will also be provided for a USI faculty mentor to conduct an onsite program evaluation/observation for up to two weeks at the beginning of the internship. GEI participants will be expected to present their experiences at the Global Engagement Forum (tentatively scheduled for November 2012 at USI), and other venues.

    The GEI Program is open to fulltime degree-seeking students in all majors. Additional requirements will depend on specific internship opportunities. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors, and to applicants who have not received USI study abroad scholarships in the past.
  • Global Engagement Ghana Summer Program
    The GE: Ghana program is open to all degree-seeking students at USI. A diverse group of students will be selected based on the application and interview. USI will cover roundtrip transportation from Evansville, room and some meals, USI tuition and fees, ground transportation and tours in Ghana.

    Cost to USI students: TBA

    Additional expenses: Passport fee, visa fee, immunizations, health insurance, some meals, personal expenses
