Honors Program Scholarships
This scholarship is available to current USI students enrolled in the Honors Program to
help offset the costs of study abroad programs.
Number of Awards: Open
Length of Award: Awards available for summer, semester, and full-year
programs
Eligibility: Applicants must be USI students currently enrolled in the
USI Honors Program.
Value of Award: Awards range from $250-$2,000, depending on length of
study abroad program and number of applicants per term. Award will be
credited to the student's USI account.
Application Deadline: November 1 for spring semester and April 1 for
summer, fall and academic year awards.

The number and amount of awards depend on funds available any given year,
and are open to qualified USI students who will be studying at an ISEP
institution.
CEA Program Scholarships
CEA offers a variety of scholarships for students accepted into CEA programs.
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application, write
an original essay, and fill out a CEA Scholarship application form.

CIEE Program Scholarships
CIEE has several scholarships and grants available to students accepted to CIEE programs.
Students must meet the requirements laid out by CIEE and each individual award.
DAAD offers a wide range of opportunities to students, scholars, and
universities of the United States and Canada, from undergraduate students to
post-doctoral scholars, for study and research in Germany.

The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project offers scholarships
to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in
Japan.
Number of Awards: 60-100
Length of Award: Semester of Academic Year programs
Eligibility: Undergraduate
students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply for these
scholarships. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite. Applicants must
be U.S. citizens and must be enrolled as undergraduates in a college or
university in the United States before and during the time they are studying
abroad.
Value of Award: Bridging Scholarship recipients receive a
stipend of $2,500 (for students on semester-long programs) or $4,000 (for
students on academic year programs).
Application Process: Applications available at
ATJ website.
Application Deadline: Deadline for 2011-2012 cycle will be
announced in January.
Additional Requirements:
Each scholarship recipient will be expected to send a brief report
about his or her study in Japan to the ATJ office within 60 days of
returning from abroad.
The Gilman International
Scholarships
will provide up to $5,000 for U.S.
citizens and U.S. nationals who are undergraduate students at two year and
four year institutions to pursue overseas study, enabling students who have
limited financial means to participate in study abroad opportunities
worldwide. Priority consideration for awards will be given to applicants of
academic merit who receive Federal Pell Grants under title IV of the Higher
Education Act of 1965.
Number of Awards: 140 per cycle (two grant
cycles per year)
Length of Award: Summer, semester and full-year awards are available.
Eligibility: American undergraduates who currently receive federal Pell
Grants (the definition of federal financial assistance may change; check the
eligibility requirements for further details).
Value of Award: $3,000 for summer programs, $5,000 for a semester or
academic year program
Application Process: Application forms are available in the
International Programs and Services Office or online at
the
Gilman website.
Application Deadline: February 1 (campus deadline) for Fall/Academic
Year Awards; September 15 (campus deadline) for Spring Awards
Additional Requirements: Recipients are expected to carry out a
follow-up project which promotes study abroad and the Gilman Scholarship
program in their own community or school.

NSEP Boren Award
The
NSEP Boren Award scholarships are intended to
support U.S. undergraduates who will pursue the study of languages and
cultures currently under-represented in study abroad and deemed
critical to U.S. security. NSEP focuses on countries outside of Western
Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Each year, NSEP publishes a list
of countries, languages, and fields of study identified as critical to U.S.
national security. The program also serves as recruitment tool to U.S.
government agencies that deal with national security.
Number of Awards: 200-250
Length of Award: Summer, semester and full-year awards are available.
Eligibility: American undergraduates and who are applying for a study abroad program approved by University of Southern Indiana. Applicants must demonstrate serious interest in the study of languages.
Value of Award: Minimum: round-trip international travel and insurance; maximum: $8000 per semester.
Application Process: Application forms are available in the International Programs and Services Office. Applications require a statement of purpose, at least two letters of reference and college transcripts. First and second-year students need to supply high school transcripts as well.
Application Deadline: Application forms become available in September. Campus deadline: mid-January.
Additional Requirements: After graduation, recipients are required to seek employment in an agency of the U.S. federal government involving national security or in the field of higher education in the area of study for which the scholarship was awarded.

Number of Awards: Open
Length of Award: Academic Year Scholarship: academic year; Multi-year Scholarship: two or three years; Cultural Scholarship: three or six months.
Eligibility: Students must have completed at least two years of college when the scholarship begins; must be citizen of a country in which there is a Rotary Club; lineal descendants (children or grandchildren) of Rotarians and their spouses are ineligible.
Value of the Award: There are three different scholarships. Ambassadorial (academic year): funding of tuition, transportation, books and supplies up to $23,000. Multi-Year Ambassadorial: flat grant of approximately $11,000 or its equivalent for each year. Cultural Ambassadorial: travel, tuition and fees and living expenses for the study period. (Note: amounts are subject to change from year to year.)
Application Process: Initial applications made through local Rotary club.
Application Deadline: Set by individual clubs, deadlines vary from early March to July 15 of the application year. Districts forward winners' applications to the Rotary Foundation by October 1. Scholarships begin fall semester of the following year.
