Designed for those who want to get up and running with Blackboard as quickly as possible, this workshop covers only the highlights of Blackboard. Topics include using a simple gradebook, posting course materials, and using the email functions to Blackboard to communicate with students.

Digital assignment submission and grading are possible with Bb 6.0! This session will provide the
how-tos for using the new Assignment option. The Calendar and Task
features, two of the handy organizational tools available to both
instructors and students within Blackboard, will also be demonstrated.

Creating and Administering Class Surveys and
Exams
Online surveys are an
easy, yet effective way to request and receive feedback from your students.
Survey construction takes little time, and student anonymity is
protected. This session outlines
the benefits and limitations of the survey feature as well as the step-by-step
process for constructing class surveys. Online quizzes,
whether for homework assignments, chapter tests, or other purposes, offer a
convenient alternative to pencil-and-paper testing.
Learn the process for creating an online quiz and discuss a number of
online testing issues.

quizzes/tests created in Microsoft Word, or if you have access to a test bank
that can generate questions in a text (.txt or .rtf) file, then Respondus software is
for you! Learn how to
“translate” these text files into online quizzes in your Blackboard course
site using the FREE Respondus software.

Introduction to Podcasting
If you’re curious about what a podcast is, how to subscribe to a podcast, where to find a podcast, how to create a podcast or just want to learn about the terminology and technology then this hour long overview will get you started. We’ll be covering aggregators, RSS feeds, Wordpress and iTunes. We’ll highlight some specific uses of podcasts and when podcasting might be appropriate for you to use in the classroom, as supplemental instruction, remediation or even personal enrichment.

Breeze Presenter is a plug-in for the Windows-based version of PowerPoint that allows users to easily narrate PowerPoint presentations and publish them to the web as Flash media files. Participants will narrate a slide presentation and publish it to the USI Breeze server.
These sessions are limited to teaching faculty.

Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro
Breeze Live Meeting is a web-based video conferencing system that allows
users to see and hear each other, view presentations, and share files.
Participants will learn how to schedule and host a live interactive
web-based class meeting.

Introduction to Distance Education
If you would like to get started with distance education, please attend this valuable introduction. Participants will receive information about the USI distance education course approval process, technologies available for distance education course delivery, examples of courses currently offered by USI via distance education, and introductions to the USI distance education course development and student support teams.
