Juror Arturo Sandoval, professor of art at the University of Kentucky, selected works for the 39th Annual USI Juried Student Art Exhibition and presented a lecture.
Sandoval is known internationally for his innovative weavings and mixed media art quilts. He has received two National Endowment for the Arts Visual Arts Fellowships, two Kentucky Arts Council Al Smith Visual Arts Fellowships, two Kentucky Arts Council Al Smith Visual Professional Grants, the Rude Osolnik Craftsman Award, and the 2003 Governorís Award in the Arts: Artist Award. His fiber art is found in major museums and corporate, public, and private collections. Sandovalís work will be featured at the grand reopening of the J.E.
