Short BiographyCarolyn Roth, Instructor in Art, has been teaching at The University of Southern Indiana since 1984. Born in New York and educated at Herron School of Art (B.F.A.) and Florida State University (M.F.A.), she has been on the full-time art faculty of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Southern Illinois University and the University of Evansville. Professor Roth has exhibited extensively throughout the United States since 1968. Her paintings, drawings and prints are based on imagery inspired by her travels in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. "I'm working for an expressive quality in my work. By expressive, I don't mean the expression on a person's face, but rather the feeling behind the brush stroke. In my imagery I am interested in a narrative, but one that is more poetry than prose."
