Professor of Radio & Television

Karen H. Bonnell is a professor of Communication and Interim Director of the Master of Arts in Communication. She received the Ph.D. in communication from the University of Kentucky and the M.A. in communication from Western Kentucky University. Her bachelor's degree is in management from USI. She also holds an associate degree in communications technology from the University of Kentucky Henderson Community College.

Dr. Bonnell joined the faculty in 1990 after several years of professional experience with network affiliate television stations. Dr. Bonnell's work as a videojournalist has been recognized by national and state news associations. Her creative works include “Snapshots of Southern Indiana”, a television series on WNIN-TV in Evansville to promote tourism of historic sites. She is the 2008 and 2011 recipient of the Darrel Bigham Historic Southern Indiana Faculty Research Award.
