Leigh Anne Howard is an
associate
professor and coordinator of the Program in Communication Studies at USI. In
addition to teaching courses in areas related to gender, performance, and
cultural studies, she is involved with interactive theatre and community-based
educational projects. Current research projects include two book-length
studies--one about body image and identity and another about the Sisters of
Charity of Nazareth Oral History Project. She has published articles in
Journals including the Communication Education, the American Behavioral Scientist, the World
Communication Journal, Theatre Insight, and Theatre Symposium.
She earned her Ph.D. in Speech Communication (Performance/Cultural Studies) from
Louisiana State University in 1995, her M.A. in Communication (Rhetoric and
Organizational Culture) from Western Kentucky University in 1991, and her B.A.
in English, Drama, and Classical Studies from Centre College of Kentucky in
1986. Previous to her graduate education, she was the managing editor of
the Kentucky Center for the Arts Magazine in Louisville, KY.
