Advertising students develop professional advertising and networking skills
while seeking a bachelor degree in Communications.
"To accomplish these goals, students are encouraged to study
advertising theory in the classroom before practicing the techniques
and skills required of the profession through internships in the industry,"
said Robert Jeffers, coordinator of the advertising program.

At USI, we are dedicated to providing students with the knowledge
and skills required in the practice of public relations. Here, you
will find a program of study which will help prepare you for a public relations
career in the 21st century. Our curriculum begins with a strong liberal arts
foundation upon which a concentration of public relations and other appropriate
communications courses is added. You will be encouraged to take additional
courses in communication studies, social sciences,
management, and marketing to provide depth to your career preparation. Our
goal is to provide you with the technical skills necessary to enter
the public relations field along with the knowledge necessary to advance
in your career.

Ginger Happe, a USI public relations and advertising graduate, recently became the owner of Media Mix Communications, where she has been employed since shortly after she graduated in 1998. She started working for Media Mix in the media purchasing department.
