Dr. Gael L. Cooper is a Professor of Public Relations in the Department of Communications. He is the Director of the Scripps Howard Center for Media Studies at USI.

He holds a Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism.   He has taught at Bethany College (W.Va.), Culver-Stockton College (Mo.), Indiana University and Texas A&M University. Research interests include journalism publications history.

Cooper is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, and he advises USI's Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter.  He serves as vice-president of the Cardinal States Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He also is a member of the American Journalism Historians Association.
