Scripps Howard

Video Production Complex

The Scripps Howard Video Production Complex prepares students for careers in broadcast and institutional video production through experience in their course work, student productions, and contracted production projects. The facility is solely designed for student use and students are encouraged to take their abilities, motivation, and desire as far as they can.

RTV courses using the facility include a required introductory media production course presenting students a variety of approaches to audio and video production. Students can also enroll in advanced courses in broadcast journalism, program studio production, field shooting and editing, and radio/television performance. From these courses students will produce full-length programs, program segments, advertising and promotional spots, video stories, and news segments.

Along with course assignments students are currently involved in a variety of scheduled productions:

Access USI

A weekly student-produced newscast airing live into campus housing. Access USI has been in production since 2001 each fall and spring semester. It is also a student organization. Members conduct fund-raising projects during the year and have a picnic at the end of the spring semester.

USI Basketball

A four-camera production, the men's Screaming Eagles home games are produced live-on-tape and air on cable in the Evansville market.

Screaming Eagles Basketball with Coach Rick Herdes

During the basketball season the coach's highlights show profiles the week's previous games. The program also airs on cable in Evansville.

The studio facility opened in April 2002 and is composed of:
