Instructor Information

Don Moore has been teaching composition courses at the university and community college level for over five years.  His work includes: compiling a workbook on argument published by McGraw-Hill and being used by the California College of Health Sciences in conjunction with Maimon, Peritz, and Yancey's "A Writer's Resource", establishing the writing center at Shawnee Community College's Metropolis Campus, and creating a policies and procedures handbook for Ivy Tech's Southwestern campus in Evansville, IN.  Previously, Don was a part-time faculty member in the Intensive English Department at Southeast Missouri State University, and he has also traveled to Japan to teach English after finishing his MA degree in TESOL.  As a writer, Don has always been directed by an insight that leads to the discovery of a general truth.  From his graduate paper concerning Diglossia and Code-Switching for the Purposes of Cognitive Transfer to his more personal collection of poems, Don truly enjoys language in all of it's functions; whether in the form of academic prose,  abstract art, music, or color, it speaks to him loudly at every level.  As a friend of the AhNiYvWiYa, Don's perspectives concerning his surroundings are clear and focused- "if we are respectful of all things around us, we will be respected. It's that simple, but sometimes it's a difficult lesson and behavior that we have to learn."
