Martha K. (Marty) Smith began as a part-time English instructor at USI in 1987 and has been full time since 1992.  She has taught English 100, 101,  201, 301, 105, and 251.  Marty earned a BA in English Literature from DePauw University and a MS in Secondary Education from the University of Evansville.  She has been an advising fellow in University Division and (for one year) was acting Director of Composition in the English Department.

For many years she also taught young children to play the violin using the Suzuki method.  Marty enjoys movies, music, and traveling to California to visit her two children and two granddaughters.
