Patrick Shaw is Associate Professor of English and the Director of Composition. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D., with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition and emphases in modern literature and critical theory, from the University of Missouri. His B.A. is from the University of Pittsburgh. He teaches courses in the history of rhetoric and modern and contemporary rhetorical theory as well as freshman and advanced composition. His research interests include rhetorical theory and writing program administration and assessment. Prior to coming to USI in 2007, he taught at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky, where he served as the Division Chair of the Humanities and Fine Arts and developed the college’s writing center, and at the Ohio State University at Newark, where he developed and administered the campus writing center.
