The Man in the White Shirt It was a Sunday afternoon and also one of my best friend's, Janelle, birthday. Four of my friends got to together for this special event and they were Kathy, Alison, Janelle, and I. We all met at Janelle’s house and ate take out Papa John’s pizza. We started talking and laughing about how young and stupid we once were. Then we decided to watch a funny movie to laugh some more. We all enjoyed the movie and laughed till we cried, then we laughed some more. After we were finished watching that movie we agreed to watch another one, but this time it was going to be a scary movie. The movie was called Kiss the Girls. About half way through the movie a storm came up so we decided to go outside to see if we were going to get some much-needed rain. We must have chased it away because it did not rain, so we went back inside and finished our movie. Janelle’s parents told us that they were going to go watch the fireworks that were going off right down the road, so we were left by ourselves. This was ok with us considering that were 18 years old and could help ourselves, or so we thought. When the movie had ended we went into the kitchen so that we could eat some birthday cake and sit and joke around. Everybody’s nerves were slightly on edge because of the movie and we were having fun making fun of one another for jumping at little things. We were all sitting around laughing as hard as we could when all of a sudden I saw something from the corner of my eye that looked like a man running across the window with a white T-shirt on. I froze dead in my tracks and could not speak to tell them what was wrong, but they all noticed my facial expression anyway. Just when I was going to shrug it off, they all started running and screaming. I thought they had seen it too so I got up as fast as I could and started running after them. When we finally realized that there wasn’t a crazed manic running after us we started laughing at ourselves. This was one of the funniest birthday party memories that I have and will always cherish as I grow older and I am sure they will never forget it or let me forget either. We will always remember the invisible man who came to eat cake and ice cream with us. |
