Instructor of Arabic

I am an adjunct Arabic language instructor at the University of Southern Indiana and a doctoral student in anthropology and Near Eastern languages and cultures at Indiana University. Arabic is my major language for my NELC degree.  For my doctoral research I am conducting an ethnographic study of the Muslim community in Evansville, IN.  Specifically, I am interested in how Muslims practice and understand their faith within the American cultural milieu. Additionally, I am laying the groundwork for a future project in the West Bank studying Palestinian culture and society.

I began studying Modern Standard Arabic seven years ago and have also attained functional oral fluency in the dialect of Arabic spoken in the West Bank.  I am very excited to have this opportunity to teach Arabic language at USI.

Other courses I have taught:

      • History of the Middle East
      • Introduction to Islamic Civilization
      • Women in Islam and the Middle East
      • Patriarchy, Islam, and Culture
