The University of Heidelberg's language institute is located in southwestern Germany. Its summer program offers a full range of courses in German language structure, translation, stylistics, oral expression, history of the language, literature and culture. Entrance exams place students at the appropriate level, beginning to advanced. Dorm accommodations are available at reasonable cost, and often include an international roommate. USI credit is available for those students passing the exit exam at their level. Heidelberg has been the destination of most of USI's German teaching majors because of its intensive study of all facets of the German language. The institute draws students from every corner of the world, offering the possibility of many and varied international friendships. Four USI students attended the Heidelberg language institute this past summer, with much success.

Heidelberg also offers semester and full year studies, in the same internationalized atmosphere. Course credit may be pre-arranged through the German program at USI.
The Technical/Business University Osnabrück
Semester and Year Program
USI students have studied in Osnabrück since 1985-86 as part of the Evansville-Osnabrück exchange. Depending upon their major fields of study, USI students may elect to attend one or both institutions. All courses at Osnabrück are conducted in German; a minimum of two years German language studies at the university is required. The U. of Osnabrück offers courses in German literature, the social sciences, math and science. The Technical University offers a standard business curriculum, as well as a second semester internship with a local business or agency for those students enrolling for a full year. USI students pay USI tuition and receive USI credit for all pre-arranged courses upon presentation of documentation. Dorm rooms are available at both universities.
