Japan - Study Abroad
Summer and Semester Program
USI has sent students to Tokoha Gakuen University in Shizouka (2.5 hours from Tokyo) through the University of Evansville exchange program. We have also sent two students to Japan through the Rotary Club. One USI student studied at Nanzan University in Nagaya after receiving a private scholarship. After graduation, some students have the opportunity to teach English in Japanese public schools through J.E.T, a government funded program. USI now participates in an exchange program with the University of Tsukuba in Ibaraki, Japan.

Japan - Exchange Program
Semester or Year-long Program USI has an exchange program with the University of Tsukuba (37 miles northeast of Tokyo; http://www.tsukuba.ac.jp/indexE.html). The University of Tsukuba has a history of more than a century. Not only do they have an excellent Japanese course for a great number of international students from all over the world, but also they offer academic courses both in English and Japanese. Scholarships are available for this program. In the Tsukuba city ( http://www.city.tsukuba.ibaraki.jp/english/), there are national research institutes, forests, and rice fields. It surely gives one a great opportunity to observe Japanese traditional culture in contrast with science technology.
After graduation, some students have the opportunity to teach English in Japanese public schools through JET program, a government funded program.
