Philosophy majors at USI are taught by highly qualified faculty with doctoral degrees from major universities. As a philosophy student, you have the opportunity to take courses in a number of different areas including: logic, philosophy of science, history of philosophy, ethics, contemporary philosophy, political and legal philosophy, metaphysics and epistemology, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of art.

As a philosophy major, you have the opportunity to join the Philosophy Club. This organization is made up philosophy students and faculty. The Club sponsors speakers and provides an opportunity for students and faculty to meet informally to discuss philosophical issues.

Unlike many larger institutions, students attending USI receive individual attention from a faculty committed to undergraduate teaching and make themselves available to students for academic and career counseling. Most courses in the Philosophy Program have fewer than thirty students. Each philosophy student is assigned his or her own faculty advisor from among the full-time philosophy professors.

As you may be aware, USI offers several types of financial aid including merit-based awards for first year students who intend to major in philosophy. There is no separate application procedure for these departmental scholarships. Simply complete the standard application for admission.
