Learning APA style, calculating a two-way ANOVA, collecting data, writing a term paper. The life of a college student can be a grind at times. If you are going to graduate school it could get even worse! One way to deal with the stressors in your life, and to achieve some balance, is through humor. No doubt, you are surrounded by the humor impaired (including lots of faculty and an increasing number of students as they progress through our educational system).
A number of years ago, Dr. Joseph Palladino of the University of Southern Indiana and Dr. Mitchell Handelsman of the University of Colorado at Denver began writing a humor column for the newsletter of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology. They have since expanded their humor writing in the form of another column, “On the Lighter Side”, for Division 1 (General Psychology) of the American Psychological Association. Their goal was quite modest (!) - to ensure that the next generation of psychologists is not nearly as humor impaired as the current one. So we invite you to follow the links to their columns and enjoy humor on such topics as testing, letters of recommendation, and the APA Publication Manual.
