Criteria: Award to full-time USI students who are U.S. citizens with aspirations of becoming a writer majoring in communication studies, journalism, radio/tv or public relations and advertising. Sophomores or juniors who are in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA when the scholarship is awarded and received with demonstrated financial need as evidenced by FAFSA results. May be renewed for one additional academic year if the recipients continues to meet requirements. Recipient must be enrolled in the upcoming academic year in order to received this scholarship. Student Financial Assistance must validate need.

Criteria: Preference given to a sophomore or junior communications major. Full-time but working student. 3.0 GPA. Might not have achieved recognition through other awards. Demonstrates great effort to improve academic skills. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Must reapply for this scholarship. Not automatically renewable.

Criteria: Merit scholarship to recruit/retain highly qualified incoming freshmen who plan to major in journalism, public relations/advertising or radio/television. Appropriate activities required; automatically renewable with 3.2 GPA. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship.
