Rice Library Image Collection

 

 

The University Archives & Special Collections is proud to announce the online Rice Library Image Collection. The image database includes photographs from Evansville, New Harmony, and the tri-state area from the late 1800’s to the present day.

The collection features events such as the 1937 flood, parades and fairs from the early twentieth century, and a series of architectural photographs of the historic district in downtown Evansville from 1978.

Also included are photographs from the African-American community in Evansville, as well as photographs from the Southern Indiana Gas & Electric Company of residential homes, businesses, employees, and other locations from the 1920’s to the 1950’s.

This project will be expanded to include University photographs, celebrities who visited the area, historic buildings that no longer survive, and intentional communities from around the United States.
