Reference Services

student getting assistance at the reference desk

The library’s reference librarians provide reference and instruction in support of the curricula and other information needs of USI students, faculty and staff. Combining the resources of a traditional print reference collection, online reference works, and over 60 databases, we offer one-on-one help with immediate information needs, as well as guidance in the development of research skills. A major goal of Reference Services is to act as students’ research advocates, enabling successful navigation of the often perplexing variety of information sources.

We can help you find books, understand the different purposes
of scholarly journals and popular magazines, make good Web site choices, and cite your sources properly. We want you to be successful in your research efforts and to develop skills for lifelong information fluency.

Come see us during service hours at the Reference Desk on the library’s first floor, call us
(812-464-1907; 1-800-246-6173,) or email for assistance.

We’re hoping to hear from you!
