Library of Congress (LC) Classification
LC is most often used in University libraries. Rice Library uses LC call numbers on most materials, including the General Collection, located on floors 2-4.

Dewey Decimal Classification
Dewey call numbers are used to classify Rice Library's DVDs, videos, CDs, and pre K-12 materials (Curriculum Materials, 4th floor), which is mainly children's books and textbooks used in classrooms. Dewey is most often used in public and school libraries.
