Request a loan extension from the lending library
Loan periods are decided by the lending library, which may or may not grant renewals. Usually, you can keep a book for about 3 weeks. Renewal requests should be made at least 3 days before the due date.
To request an ILL Renewal
- Log in to your ILLiad account and click on "View/Renew Items."
- Click on the transaction # of the item you wish to renew. Then click on "Renew Request."
- The ILLiad system will tell you whether your renewal request was successful, in small red text at the top of the page.
- If the lending library allows renewals, your new due date will appear. The renewal request will be denied if the lending library does not grant renewals.
NOTE: Lending libraries may limit the timeframe in which requests are allowed, or may not allow requests at all. Even though the request may be initially approved, the lending library may deny the request (e.g. if a patron at the lending library has placed a hold on the item). If the request is denied, we will contact you via email, and the item will need to be returned by the original due date.
If you encounter any problems, please call our office so we may assist you.
