New Books in Rice Library

A collection of 101 books about contemporary Japan has been donated to Rice Library by Japan’s Nippon Foundation and are now available for checkout. Topics include Japanese popular culture, sociology, environmental science, business, politics, international relations, economics, literature, the arts, and history.

Why did the Nippon Foundation donate books to Rice Library?

The Nippon Foundation, whose goal is a peaceful and prosperous global society, is initially targeting 300 libraries, universities, and institutions in the United States for their book donation program, “most of which do not have collections of books on Japan despite having potential readers who would benefit from them.”
