A BOOK THAT IS ALREADY CHECKED OUT
(i.e.
placing a hold)
How
to Place Holds in the Catalog
A "hold
request" may be placed for circulating materials that are checked
out to another borrower. The item will be held for the requester
when it is returned. If a title is already checked out and not due for
more than three weeks, inquire at the Checkout Counter.
To
place a hold:
- Locate
the item you wish to place on Hold by doing a search in the Catalog
- Item
must be checked out (Check Status: line)
- click
on "Place Hold" in the menu bar below the page header
- You
will be prompted to enter your barcode number from your Eagle Access
Card and your last name
- Click
"OK" with "Hold" highlighted as
your type of request
The
Catalog Request Hold form will appear you must:
- fill
in your barcode number from the back of your Eagle Access Card at
the appropriate place
- enter
a phone number for contact purposes in the Comment area
- enter
the number of days up to 30 until the item will no longer be needed
- press
the submit request button
You
will receive an acknowledgement that the process succeeded or failed.
Canceling
A Hold
To cancel
a hold click "Patron" to see your Patron Information
which will include your holds, check the appropriate box and click the
"Cancel" button.
