Rice Library Welcomes
Marna Hostetler, new Director
of the David L. Rice Library
Marna Hostetler, new director of Rice Library at the University of Southern Indiana, will begin her duties in October. She brings close to 14 years of college library administration experience to the job. She is a member of the American Library Association and the Association of College & Research Libraries. She earned her master's degree in Library Science and her Bachelor of Arts degree at Indiana University.
Most recently, Ms. Hostetler was the associate dean of libraries and director of the Thomas Cooper Library, the main library at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Earlier she was the head of Access Services and head of the Interlibrary Loan Department at USC, overseeing circulation, collection maintenance, educational films, reserves, and the Library Annex, an off-site storage facility. She also was interlibrary loan and public services librarian at Hollins University in Virginia for two years.
"The highly motivated staff of Rice Library and your wonderful library facility that serves today's students were top recruiting tools for me," said Hostetler. "I'm struck by the similar challenges that face university libraries across the country, such as migrating to next-generation library catalogs and discovery tools to help users find what they need among the collection and licensed scholarly publications. I'm looking forward to being the director of a library the size of Rice Library, and to returning to the Midwest."
Please join us in welcoming Marna Hostetler to the University of Southern Indiana.
