The EXCEL Mentoring Program is designed to provide experiences which contribute to the growth, development, retention, and graduation of students of color. The goal of this experience is to empower students to take charge of their own learning experiences and to assist and advocate for them as they learn to become independent.
Students meet face-to-face with individuals who can play a key role in their success at the University. Students come together at least twice a month in the Multicultural Center. Some of the topics discussed are Study Skills/Time Management, Relationships, and Stress Management. Field trips are taken to various on-campus offices as well. The program is for freshmen and new transfer students.
