Three of the area’s gospel choirs performed in a Gospel Explosion on Saturday, November 17 in Forum I at the University of Southern Indiana. The show was part of Religious Awareness Month on the THREADS (Teaching Human Respect and Encouraging Action Diversity Series) November calendar. THREADS is a campus-wide diversity initiative of the Multicultural Center to encourage intentional diversity programming throughout the USI community through a coordinated diversity calendar.
Shervonne Wells, Bible Center Cathedral, Answered Prayer, Designed by Grace--the USI gospel choir, and CNZ, a youth choir whose participants where members Cleaves Memorial, New Hope Baptist, and Zion Baptist Church performed at the 2007 Gospel Explosion.
Shervonne Wells may be widely know because of her affiliation with
Kurt Carr Singers since 1993. However, the song does not end
there for Shervonne. Some of her notable appearances and
performances are as follows: Servonne has sang on the Disney
sound track for the movie Pinocchio with Stevie Wonder and sang 2
years of the Miss America pageant. Additionally, she sang a
track for the 2002 Comedy Central Awards show. Her voice is
also featured on the latest release of Norm Hutchins' project "Where
I Long To Be." Shervonne was asked to sing a solo in 2004
before Bishop T.D. Jakes spoke in Washington, D.C. She
has also appeared as guest soloist for Reverend Jesse Jackson's
"Rainbow PUSH Coalition."
Designed by Grace, the gospel choir at the University of Southern Indiana, is a cooperative program of the Multicultural Center and the College of Liberal Arts. The choir performs a variety of music including spirituals and hymns. Members of Designed by Grace challenge audiences to face diversity as a new ascertainable goal.
The 90-minute performance was free and open to the public.
