At work in the MCC Office: Student Workers

Maggie Pellot of Fort Wayne is a junior majoring in Psychology.  She performs various office tasks and clerical responsibilities.  She is also involved with College Mentors for Kids (CMFK).  Maggie feels the "bonds that are established from CMFK are not only self-fulfilling, but also rewarding in ways that can not be described."  CMFK is a mentoring program in which USI students mentor elementary age students.  She gains pleasure from all of the hands on activities that go into working with the students in this program.  Maggie also recommends  anyone who "loves being creative and being a role model for children to join CMFK."

Shalonda Fontenette, a freshman from Fort Wayne, is majoring in Psychology.  She participates in the Excel mentoring program, and has enjoyed the experience.  Shalonda believes the "Excel sessions are very beneficial and have greatly helped with my transition to collegiate  life."  She especially loves the way mentoring and fun are combined throughout this program.   Meetings are held at 1:30pm on Thursdays in UC214.  Shalonda was recently asked what advice would she give to first year college students attending USI.  Her reply was,  "I would encourage them to get involved and meet people, and both of these can be achieved through connecting with Multicultural Center."

Megan Edwards, is a freshman.  Megan is a member of "Designed by Grace" USI's gospel choir.  She has expressed her joy for being a part of this group.  Megan enjoyed singing in the 2007 Annual Gospel Explosion, and looks forward to future singing engagements scheduled for spring semester.
