It is the mission of the South Asian Union to promote the recognition and involvement of South Asian students at the University of Southern Indiana. The SAU intends to create a strong voice on campus to make an impact on the decisions regarding students at USI.
The SAU shall also encourage academic achievement and personal development in leadership, time management, organizational and communication skills among its membership. In addition, the SAU will promote both academic and extra-curricular programs to enhance and increase the knowledge and appreciation of cultural diversity.
To meet the goals of its mission, the SAU coordinates, sponsors, and co-sponsors various activities on campus. These activities mostly include cultural and social events. Below are just a few of the recent activities the SAU has enjoyed:
-
Indian Culture Night, Global Communities
-
Diwali Lecture
-
International Food Expo
The South Asian Union accepts and welcomes students of all races, cultures and ethnic backgrounds into its membership. If you would like more information about the SAU, you may call the Multicultural Center at 812/465-7188, or stop by the office in UC East Room 1244.
