On August 23, 2007 the Multicultural Center hosted the Cultural Diversity Welcome Reception for first year students of color and their families. This event was held in the University Center, room 201, from 4pm-5pm.
Students and their families had the opportunity to mingle with one another; faculty, staff, returning students, and alumni of color; Trustees, Vice Presidents, Deans and Directors; and clergy from local churches during an informal gathering where appetizers were provided. In addition, there were tables offering information on the services and programs of Academic Skills, the Alumni Association, the Multicultural Center, the Office of Religious Life, and the Office of Student Development.
This unique experience helps participants build bridges and friendships within the USI community while emphasizing academic excellence. It is a fun and exciting way to begin a college career.
