The University of Southern Indiana’s Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils were recognized at the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV) Central Fraternal Leadership Conference held in St. Louis on February 11.
The Panhellenic Council is the governing body of all the sororities on campus, and the Interfraternity Council is the governing body of all the fraternities on campus. The councils are composed of an executive board and delegates from each chapter.
The Panhellenic Council received recognition in “Council Management” and “Self-Governance and Judicial Affairs” and the Interfraternity Council received recognition in “Council Management” and “Philanthropy and Community Service”. In addition to receiving recognition, the past and current leadership of each council met with an awards judge to receive written and verbal feedback to be used to improve the work of the council in the future.
Recognition was part of AFLV’s Assessment and Awards Program. Each year, the councils outline their accomplishments, progress, and programming. The Assessment and Awards Program is designed to assist councils in achieving the highest level of excellence possible in their programming and council management. Numerous councils across the United States apply and are recognized each year.
