New Harmony hosts Arts-in-Education Day

10/23/2012 | University Communications

New Harmony Music Festival and School, which held its inaugural event in July 2012, is hosting an Arts-in-Education Day for eighth and ninth grade students from St. Wendel Catholic School, Helfrich Park Middle School, and Signature School on Friday, November 2, in New Harmony, Indiana.

Arts education is integral to the New Harmony Music Festival and School's mission. Students will be treated to a concert at Thrall’s Opera House featuring Martha Waldvogel on concert harp; Christopher Layer playing Uilleann pipes, Scottish small pipes, and flutes; and Denise Wilson, an Indiana folksinger and songwriter.

They also will take a walking tour of the newly renovated Community House No. 2 and other sites in the historic town.

Visit the New Harmony Music Festival and School’s website for more information or contact Missy Parkison, community engagement manager, at 812/682-4488, or Christopher Layer, director of New Harmony Music Festival and School, at 646/456-7762.
