Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center (SWI-AHEC) is seeking applicants for its 2012-13 Mini-Grant Program. Nonprofits, schools, or community organizations can submit applications to help fund projects that address healthcare workforce development within Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and/or Warrick Counties.

Projects should be focused on engaging youth in health careers, creating clinical experiences for health professions students, or offering continuing education programs for health professionals in rural or underserved areas in the same counties.

The deadline for applications is November 30, 2012.  Applications are available at health.usi.edu/swiahec/, or by contacting Jane Friona, executive director, at 812/461-5446 or jefriona@usi.edu.

Founded in 2008, SWI-AHEC’s mission is to improve health by recruiting, educating, and retaining health care professionals in underserved communities in Southwest Indiana. It is hosted by the University of Southern Indiana and is one of eight regional AHECs in Indiana. The Indiana AHEC Network is housed within the IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
