UCC Speaker Series features the eclectic music styling of PROJECT Trio

September 23, 2014

The University of Southern Indiana, in partnership with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, welcomes PROJECT Trio, a musical ensemble whose eclectic sound is a fusion of classical and jazz with notes of rock, soul and funk. The group will perform and speak as a part of the University Core Curriculum Speaker Series, from 3 to 4 p.m., Friday, September 26, in the second-floor reading room in the David L. Rice Library.

The trio is comprised of Greg Pattillo on flute, Eric Stephenson on cello and Peter Seymour on double bass. Pattillo is revered for his beatbox flute performances which have received more than 20 million views on YouTube. He also performs with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. Stephenson's resume includes performances with the Cleveland Orchestra, IRIS Orchestra and the Colorado Music Festival. Along with composing, he also has engineered and mixed two of the trio's albums. Seymour has performed with the New York City Ballet, Houston Symphony, Iris Orchestra, the Colorado Music Festival and the Cleveland Orchestra.

PROJECT Trio has more than 80 million views and nearly 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. They've toured worldwide, as well as appearing on television on MTV and Nickelodeon. Their recordings, EPs and DVD are self-produced on their record label, Harmonyville Records. The Wall Street Journal praised them for their "wide appeal, subversive humor and first-rate playing."

The event is free and open to the public.
