USI to hold Celebration of Innovation for I-69 Innovation Corridor Consortium

October 24, 2014

A Celebration of Innovation for the I-69 Innovation Corridor Consortium will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST on Thursday, November 13 at the Huntingburg Event Center located at 200 E. 14th Street in Huntingburg, Indiana. The event will include opening remarks by Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellsperman and showcase developing innovation along the I-69 corridor.

Convened by USI, I-69 Innovation Corridor Consortium is made up of southwest Indiana government leaders; business, healthcare and education representatives; and economic development officials with the goal of building capacity along Interstate 69 in southwestern Indiana as a corridor of innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity. The Consortium's goal is to increase the innovation index by 20 percent by 2025, by exploring programs under the following initiatives: Brainpower, Branding Experiences, Civic Collaborations, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Networks, and Quality Connected Places.

"For the past two years, many people and organizations have been working hard to move forward initiatives set forth by the consortium," said Michael Thissen, Innovation Corridor manager at USI. "It's now time to report and celebrate the work being done and to move forward in synergizing our region for the future."

The event is free and open to the public but registration is required by Friday, November 7. Lunch will be provided.
