O.A.R. announced as USI's 2015 SpringFest band

February 11, 2015

O.A.R., a popular touring band with a large following for its live performances and several live albums, will headline the University of Southern Indiana 2015 SpringFest concert, student organizers announced Wednesday. The concert, co-sponsored with University of Evansville and VenuWorks of Evansville, will be held April 17 at the Ford Center.

Formed in 1996 in Rockville, Maryland, O.A.R. (an acronym for Of a Revolution) has transformed itself from an independent college band to a Billboard chart-topper over the course of a long, varied career, according to allmusicguide.com.

First, two of the band's demo recordings were hawked on university campuses. Then, news spread about the band's roots rock and reggae-inflected songs, which owed much to the jam band genre. Before long, O.A.R.'s website had turned into a highly trafficked Internet destination, and the group gradually left the college scene for the bright lights of national stardom.

Popular tracks include "Peace," "Shattered (Turn the Car Around)" and "Love and Memories."

Tickets are $5 for USI students and will be available for sale online or at the USI Campus Store on Monday, February 16. USI students may also purchase one guest ticket for $10.

General admission tickets will be available for sale to the public on Monday at the Ford Center or at ticketmaster.com. The floor area will be reserved for USI and UE students and their guests.

USI SpringFest is an annual campus event to celebrate warmer weather and campus spirit. Over three days, students have the opportunity to play in inflatables, take rides on a Zipline, pick-up free giveaways, and enjoy live performances on campus. The event culminates with the concert at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville.

USI SpringFest 2015 will be held April 15-17. More details will be available at http://www.usi.edu/springfest. USI SpringFest is also on Facebook and Twitter at @USI_SpringFest.
