April 17, 2015

As the University of Southern Indiana celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is marking its 40th. In celebration, the gallery will feature a "Flashback" exhibit of its first USI faculty exhibition after the University took management of Historic New Harmony in 1985.

Work by current and emeritus USI Art Department faculty Michael Aakhus, Lenny Dowhie, William Leth, John McNaughton, Carolyn Roth and Kathryn Waters will be on display in the "Faculty Flashback" exhibit; these same artist showed their work in a 1986 exhibition at the gallery.

Visitors to the exhibition, which opens Saturday, April 18 and runs through Friday, May 29, will be able to see sample of work spanning the rich history of production from these artists between that 1986 exhibition and present day. A reception for the exhibition will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, before the Under the Beams concert at Murphy Auditorium featuring Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn.
