New Harmony Theatre's "Full Monty" on display at Performance Center

Performance includes 12-piece live band

June 30, 2015

New Harmony Theatre continues its 2015 summer season with The Full Monty by Terrence McNally with music and lyrics by David Yazbek, playing July 10-12 and 16-19 on University of Southern Indiana's campus in the new Performance Center.

The production, directed by Eric Altheide, New Harmony Theatre's resident associate director and USI assistant professor of theatre, is based on the 1997 film, The Full Monty about a group of unemployed factory workers united by their common plight. Each, for his own reasons, feels useless to his family and less than a man. In need of money, they decide to put on a strip tease, out-performing the Chippendale dancers. As they pursue their big plan, the show they rehearse comes to represent their defiant response to all that has been taken from them and becomes a means of restoring their self-respect.

The cast includes Corey James Wright, Colin Hartman, Peter McIntosh, Richard Jarrett, Netanel Bellaishe, Amanda Huxtable, Charlie Clark, Charlie Owens, Yvette Monique Clark, Melissa Carlile-Price, Michael Glavan, Jackey Good, Katie Merrick Finan and Michael Indeglio with past and present Evansville residents Joshua Betz, Bridgette Hoover and Sue Schriber and choreography by Kenney M. Green.

The audience will be in for a treat with a live 12-piece band with music direction by Eugene Gwozdz and assistant music director, Patrick Ritsch, both on pianos. Additional band members include Adam Clark on bass, Greg Tuley on drums, Max Engelman on guitar, Allison Field on percussions, Brian Bosley and Ryan Preci on reeds, Verquindon Fitzhugh and Damian Peak on trombones, and Wade Baker and Stephen Crosby on trumpets. This show contains adult language and nudity.

The season will come to a close back at Murphy Auditorium in New Harmony, Indiana, with John Patrick Shanley's new play, Outside Mullingar, directed by Elliot Wasserman, producing artistic director and chair of Performing Arts at USI, and running July 24-26 and July 31-August 2. Having opened on Broadway in January of 2014, this is one of the first productions of the play to be seen outside of New York. Outside Mullingar is a dramatic comedy of great power, capturing the time in the lives of adults when they know they can no longer be their parents' children and must chart their own course in life. A simple story about love's capacity to heal our lives, Shanley writes unerringly of the human heart. Outside Mullingar stars June Ballinger, Caitlin Clouthier, Ron Crawford and Jeff Williams.

Tickets are on sale now. All evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. and matinees begin at 2 p.m. Individual adult tickets are $35 for The Full Monty and $28 for Outside Mullingar. Discounted tickets are available for students and seniors.
