Stand Against Racism rally to be held on USI campus

April 25, 2016

The University of Southern Indiana Center for Social Justice Education is partnering with YWCA Evansville and Sodexo to host the 2016 Stand Against Racism rally at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28 at Rice Amphitheatre, located in the David L. Rice Library on the USI campus.

Stand Against Racism is a nationwide campaign for the YWCA, which originated in Trenton, New Jersey and Princeton, New York, in 2007, and became a national movement in 2010. More than 2,000 organizations in 39 states have participated in the event. The event is held, according to YWCA USA, to "build community among those who work for racial justice and to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities."

The event will feature student and community speakers, free food and live music. The event is open to the public.
