April 27, 2016

Ashley Wright, a junior business administration major with human resource management and nutrition minors from Martinsville, Indiana, has been elected Student Government Association (SGA) president for 2016-2017.

Wright coordinated the Student Government Coalition Conference during her first year in SGA. She is involved with many campus clubs and activities at USI, including SGA, Habitat for Humanity, Student Ambassadors, Welcome Week Leader, and the Honors Program.

During her time as SGA president, Wright says she wants to focus on students' needs.

"My goal is to finish several items in the making," Wright said. "A few examples are completion and implementation of a communication plan, finals being taken prior to graduation and majors being listed on diplomas."

Wright also plans to increase the number of charging stations and water bottle filling stations on campus.

Wright attended Martinsville High School, and holds a 3.8 GPA. She is the recipient of both the Provost's Top Student Leader Award and the Distinguished Sophomore Award. She plans to return to her hometown this summer to spend time with friends and family before returning to USI in the fall.
