New Harmony Theatre 2016 season announced

May 19, 2016

New Harmony Theatre will open its 2016 season with Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz, running June 17-19 and 24-26. The show is directed by Elliot Wasserman, producing artistic director and chair of Performing Arts at the University of Southern Indiana. Other Desert Cities is a powerful play exploring the dark history haunting a powerful American family. When writer Brooke Wyeth returns after a six year absence to her parents' home in the desert of Palm Springs to announce that she is going to publish a memoir about a tragic incident concerning one of her brothers, she encounters powerful resistance. Part family saga, part mystery, Other Desert Cities explores the wrenching conflict that disparate ideologies can visit upon a family. The show stars Amy Bodnar, Ann Hearn, Daren Kelly, Peggy J. Scott and Andrew Head.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, runs July 8-10 and 15-17 and is directed by Elliot Wasserman. In a series of vignettes, the musical takes us through the wacky world of love and relationship, from first date, to marriage, through child rearing and beyond, as a small cast plays multiple characters in multiple situations. Audience members are certain to see some of their own romantic experiences reflected in his keenly satirical romp. The four-person cast includes Michael Indeglio, Erica Lustig, Kenney Green and Lanene Charters. This show will contain smoke and haze effects.

The season will come to a close with three time Tony-award winner Ken Ludwig's play The Fox on the Fairway, July 22-24 and 29-31, directed by Eric Altheide, New Harmony Theatre's resident associate director and assistant professor of theatre at USI. In this fast-paced farce, Ludwig mines the comic potential of the great and gentlemanly sport of golf as it is often played by gentlemen not so great. In classic Ludwig fashion, there is a little romance, a little hanky-panky, and human foibles playing out during a challenge match between rival country club presidents and their club champions. The Fox on the Fairway stars Richard Price, Melissa Carlile-Price, Charlie Owens, Laurie Dawn, Craig Belwood and Aimee Grace.

Tickets are on sale now, and season tickets may be purchased through the first production. All evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. and matinees begin at 2 p.m. Individual adult tickets are $30 for Other Desert Cities and The Fox on the Fairway and $35 for I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.
