Secretary of State, Connie Lawson, to speak at USI

As part of the USI Squawk the Vote campaign, Connie Lawson, Indiana Secretary of State, will be at USI to speak on the topic "Why you should vote" from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, October 20 in Traditions Lounge in University Center East. As Secretary of State, Lawson is charged with ensuring the integrity and security of Indiana's elections, protection of Indiana investors and determining the most efficient use of taxpayer resources.

Lawson has served in the Indiana Senate for 16 years and made history in 2006, when she was selected as the first woman to serve as Majority Floor Leader in the Indiana Senate. She also has served as the regional vice president of the National Association of Secretaries of State, an honorary governor of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Services Series and the honorary chairwoman of the Lupus Foundation of Indiana.

The event is free and open to USI students, faculty and staff.
