Presidential Search Update

February 7, 2018

The following update was shared by Harold Calloway, chair of the  USI Board of Trustees and chair of the USI Presidential Search Committee:

I am pleased to provide you with an update regarding the University's presidential search. To date, we have received and reviewed credentials on well over 90 individuals. Throughout the late fall and into the new year the committee members had full access to all candidates' credentials through our consultant's secure website. In December, and again just last week, the committee met to conduct preliminary screenings of prospective candidates and to identify individuals for face-to-face interviews.

The committee will be leading the first round of interviews this month. Following, we will be conducting thorough reference checks on the candidates who emerge from our initial interviews.  Based on the outcome of those interviews and referencing, we hope to coordinate with the Board regarding the next steps of the search.

I believe that I speak for the entire committee when I share that I have been impressed with the caliber, expertise, and integrity of the candidates who have expressed interest in USI. I would also like to thank my fellow committee members for their time, but also their commitment to the aggressive and thorough review and vetting of the candidates to date. While this is not easy, it is clear that the search committee members are committed to the success of this process.

Although we have attempted to be as transparent as possible about the progress of the search, a search at this level requires a great deal of confidentiality concerning the names of the candidates themselves in order to develop the deepest and strongest candidate pool. I want to assure you that the search is on track, and we appreciate the trust that has been placed in us for this important work.
