48th Annual University of Southern Indiana Juried Student Art Show opens

The 48th Annual University of Southern Indiana Juried Student Art Show is on display through Sunday, April 29 in the Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries, located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center on the USI campus.

The public is invited to a free reception for the student artists at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8 in the gallery. Over $9,000 in merit awards, scholarships and USI Art Collection purchase awards will be announced during a ceremony at 3 p.m.

The 2018 Student Art Show Juror, Jim May, executive director of the Hoosier Salon, selected 178 art and design works from 432 artworks entered. The exhibit features a wide array of drawings, photographs, graphic designs, prints, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, video, wood and ceramic works. Prior to joining the Hoosier Salon, May worked at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites as curator of fine arts, director of collections and interpretation and vice president of museum programs. He has been an instructor at the Herron School of Art at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis and director for the Center for Art, Design and Public Life. May earned a bachelor's degree in painting and commercial design from the University of Evansville and a holds a master's degree in art history from Indiana University.

The Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free and open to the public. Visit USI.edu/liberal-arts/art-center-galleries or call 812-228-5006 for more information.
