The Scripps Howard Center for Media Studies is housed in the Department of Communications, which teaches modern digital mass communication in areas as diverse as public relations and advertising to broadcast, online and print journalism. The Center includes the William R. Burleigh Resource Center, the Scripps Howard Digital Arts Laboratory and the Scripps Howard Video Production Complex. The Center encourages interaction with mass media professionals by sponsoring speakers, outreach programs to high school media advisors, and summer workshops for aspiring high school students. It is funded by the Scripps Howard Foundation.
