USI offering computer courses for beginners

University of Southern Indiana is offering three courses designed for people who have no experience with personal computers. Interested persons may register for an individual course or take advantage of an $80 special fee for all three. For more information or registration, call 812/464-1989 or 800/467-8600. Course schedule COMPUTERS FOR THE HOME What issues should you consider when buying your first home computer? What software will you use, what peripherals do you need, what are the ongoing costs associated with computers? Where will you put your new computer? Get the answers to these questions and more. Date and Time: Thursday, February 27, 2-3:30 p.m. Registration Fee: $25 WINDOWS: THE BASICS Learn what the Windows operating system does and why you should care. The mysteries of the Control Panel, Windows Desktop, Notepad, Wordpad, and more will be revealed, as well as basics of file management. Practice time with screen manipulation and creating shortcuts and folders is included. Date and Time: Two Thursdays, March 13 and 20, 2-3:30 p.m. Registration Fee: $40 INTERNET FOR FUN AND LEARNING Surf's up and you can catch a wave! Learn how to use search engines to find what you want on the World Wide Web. You'll also learn about how to get TO the Internet, how to set up an e-mail account, and security measures for the information age.
